Make That 38,000,001.

Tokyo, my babies, Tokyo. Currently home to 38 million people. Max Golden Lin, writing in Let's Go: Japan has this to say by way of introduction to the city that I'll soon call home:

From the sky, the sea ushers in a new meaning of majesty, surging against the city's off-shore developments with the kind of fear-instilling momentum reserved for movies and the subconscious. Tokyo is that terrifying law of averages that eradicates color, a modern-day Tower of Babel, a testament to the awesome power of the human spirit when allowed to dream and forced to survive. Welcome to the dizzying megalopolis, unconquerable in a single lifetime. Welcome to Tokyo.
