The Demon Who Will Never Have a Terminal Degree
Friday, Dec. 26, 2003

so it's saturday. betty has her breakfast and a bit of pettingand i've had a bit of coffee and then remembered that i hadn't yet checked my grades for last sememster online, so i did. all a' s. (don't you wish you had been my study partner in physics II last semester? you know you do).

last semester was a bit of grind for me, which meant that i had to study from time to time (and, no, i didn't have any study partners--you travel faster when you travel light--and that means solo a lot of times). there were a few scary physics moments, but thankfully no scary calc moments (i got lucky and drew a russian t.a. for calc II) and i love, love, love my eukaryotic gene expression professor, so i worked like a dog in his class so that he might love me in return. (plus, i found that the "love you" written across my eyelids was not particularly effective.) the rest were decent, but not particularly challenging.

i also sat in on a couple of english classes just because it was my last semester and the professor was a woman who i admired and respected and, yes, loved too. so i sat in on a shakespeare class she was teaching and also a milton seminar kind of tihng, which was four students who seemed to read no milton, sadly. of course, the class included the rockabillychica, so there were lots of fun after class coffee sessions in which we talked about everything from the psychobilly scene to same-sex crushes of the sexual and/or nonsexual variety and her boyfriend's constant nagging for a menage a trois. (which was kind of funny, as i thought at first she was interested in having me participate in this, but, luckily, she had someone else in mind).

so that, and lots of time alone in the apartment were my semester. and now i'm a graduate. (did i forget to mention that i'm finally finished? damn. yes, it's true. i'm finally done: a b.a. in english and a b.s. in biology under my belt. finally. but, of course, that doesn't mean that i won't be taking classes in the spring. because i did a double major, i didn't finish my chem minor, and so i'm thinking that the couple of classes that it will take to do that are totally within grasp, and if i'm going to do those, why not go ahead and take the infectious organisms class being taught by a prof whose lab i used to work in? and, as long as i'm taking those classes, it would be nice to have a bit more biochemistry under my belt, don't you think?)

because i'm the demon who will never have a terminal degree apparently.

retreat or surrender
