Part XXIII: f-f-f-first contact
dearest erin, oh. kay. so i just talked to the neo--strictly about the conference thing. it wasn't even that bad, really, though i had to be the one to initiate conversation by saying, "do you want to go to the conference?" (and, yes, i realize that i probably should have said nothing, but there it was, me and my uncontrollable mouth). we talked for about ten or fifteen minutes about it, and he left with an "i'll think about it," which i suppose means he'll think about it. um. i also asked whether his hesitancy had anything to do with me going, and he steadfastly maintained that it didn't (thank you, gods of repression, i suppose), but had all to do with his feeling as though he might be out of place as an undergrad at a conference. (and, yes, thank you, gods of inhuman willpower, i did not say, but you're out of place every-motherfucking-where). need to know that i did the right thing. or not. as the case may be. arg. hastily, sublingua
