The heart with a mind of its own.

(Be present.)

The mind with a heart of its own.

(It's past.)

The dream that is your waking life.

(Go there now.)

The unusual becomes the usual

There has been the requisite amount of thinking about the dead--and those who should be dead, who would be better off dead.

There have been the usual making of the lists of things for which I am grateful.

There have been feelings. (I'm not quite sure I like this part.)

There has been a general ramping up of anxiety. There has been the laughter of friends. There has been the laughter of strangers. There has been a kind of incoherent coherency that can only be felt, never understood. There have, of course, been attempts made to understand.

There have been the connections and the rejections at connections. Not physical, but emotional. (The more difficult being, of course, the emotional).

There has been guilt. There has been hurt. There has been the attempt at a reestablishment of perspective.

There has not been much art. There has not been much art to it. But there have been a large number of art students. And I'm not sure what to make of this.

retreat or surrender
